Welcome

The $1.39 billion Monash-CityLink-West Gate (M1) upgrade includes the construction of extra lanes to help ease congestion and improve the flow of traffic.

The introduction of an intelligent freeway management system along the corridor will capitalise on these improvements, by managing the flow and entry of vehicles on the freeway. Strengthening works on the West Gate Bridge will ensure this critical part of Melbourne's road network will continue to provide safe and reliable service into the future.

The M1 upgrade is a partnership between the State Government and Transurban. It is just one part of the State Government's action plan to improve Victoria's transport system.
