Driving simulation

The M1 will be a different driving environment after the upgrade. The short simulation below shows how the road will look with overhead lane signage. *Please note - these simulations are indicative only, and are not meant to represent how the actual road will look. They are included here to give an example of how the freeway management system will work.

Montague Street beam lift

This is a timelapse video showing the installation of a concrete beam for one of the new elevated structures near the Montague Street interchange. 

This footage was captured on the  West Gate Freeway Upgrade in September 2008.

New Bolte Bridge exit-ramp simulation

Below is a 3D simulation of the new Bolte Bridge eastbound exit-ramp to the West Gate Freeway.

The new Bolte Bridge eastbound exit-ramp is designed to untangle this section of the West Gate Freeway and stop weaving and merging taking place as traffic from the Bolte Bridge joins the freeway.

The new exit-ramp from the Bolte Bridge will have traffic travelling in a dedicated lane, leading directly to the CityLink Tunnels and beyond.

Installing beams over Normanby Road

This is a timelapse video showing the installation of beams for one of the new elevated structures on the West Gate Freeway westbound over Normanby Road. 

This footage was captured on the  West Gate Freeway Upgrade in November 2008.
